Afeni Shakur Davis, the mother of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur, has passed away at the age of 69. The Marin County Sheriff's Office in California confirmed the news on Tuesday.

Shakur died at a hospital in Greenbrae, California, at around 10:28 pm on May 2, 2016, after going into cardiac arrest at her home earlier in the evening. The Marin County Sheriff's Coroner's Office is currently investigating the cause of death.
